Yesteday I recevied word that my Art Show and Reception, "Nevada in Shades of Silver and Gold", has been approved as an official 150th Nevada Anniversary Event and will be listed on that state website with other celebrations and events around the state. I'm just thrilled to have this designation and I couldn't help but share my excitement. Here is the official logo that I now have permission to use. Like icing on the cake, they are even sending me official lapel pins that I can pass out at my reception. You don't want to miss out on that.

I'm so happy about this that I've decided to have a drawing on Sunday that you can register to win an original drawing that I'm preparing especially for my reception. All you have to do is come to my reception on Sunday, August 10th at the Centennial Hills Library from 2:00- 3:30 p.m. I would love for you to stop in and say hi.

Show Synergy Carried to the Easel

This has been one of the most productive weeks that I can recall for me as an artist and I think it is due to the energy I got from having so many friends and family that came out to celebrate the reception of my first art show on Oct 12th. I had so much fun seeing all my work displayed and talking about each piece. It was like being a kid in a candy store. That excitement couldn't help but flow out onto my easel.

Here is a preview of my new works that I have painted or finished up this past week. We are still in the process of photographing, naming, varnishing and cataloging them but hopefully in the next week they will all be available on my website gallery at JulieTownsendStudio.com or hanging up at City of the World Gallery here in Las Vegas.

Biography

Julie was born in Kansas City and spent her formative years growing up in the rural Ozark hills of Central Missouri. Surrounded by farming, woods, country roads and plenty of wildlife, Julie allows these rich childhood experiences to strongly influence her art. Julie’s love of art was obvious at a very young age. Drawing, writing and sewing were her constant entertainment, but as she moved into the responsibilities and stresses of a working mother, everything that was art in her life was packed up and left neglected. It wasn’t until 2010 that she decided to take a drawing class at the community college, followed by an online painting course. That was all the spark needed to rekindle that fire and get the passion burning once again in her heart. With a great deal of hard work, determination and focus, Julie’s work is beginning to be noticed around the country and even internationally. Adjectives often used to describe Julie’s art are the words “whimsical” or “childlike”. Julie has a unique ability to combine both details and bright colors to capture her audience and draw them into the piece. She sets out as a goal with each work of art to emotionally transport those that view her work to a more innocent and happy time in their lives. Smiles are what she looks for when she is watching those that are observing her work and there is usually no shortage of smiling in the room.
