There are many things I remember from my childhood growing up in the Missouri Ozarks and gentle rain showers was one of them. Nothing could wash the dust that had accumulated like a steady rain. Everything was made fresh and clean.
I also remember singing this old hymn written by Daniel Whittle in 1883. (Read about the life of Daniel Whittle) What a sweet and powerful memory.
- There Shall Be Showers of Blessing
- There shall be showers of blessing:This is the promise of love; There shall be seasons refreshing,Sent from the Savior above.
- Refrain:Showers of blessing,Showers of blessing we need:Mercy-drops round us are falling,But for the showers we plead.
- There shall be showers of blessing,Precious reviving again;Over the hills and the valleys,Sound of abundance of rain.
- There shall be showers of blessing;Send them upon us, O Lord;Grant to us now a refreshing,Come, and now honor Thy Word.
- There shall be showers of blessing:Oh, that today they might fall,Now as to God we’re confessing,Now as on Jesus we call!
- There shall be showers of blessing,If we but trust and obey; There shall be seasons refreshing,If we let God have His way.
Here is my Verse of the Day to share with you. This color pencil drawing is titled, you guessed it, "Showers of Blessing". It is available in prints, magnets and cards and I currently still have the framed original. Please feel free to share.
